QLogic Collaborates With HP

ALISO VIEJO, Calif. -- QLogic Corp.
(Nasdaq:QLGC), the leader in SAN connectivity for bladed servers, today
announced a collaboration with HP on its breakthrough Virtual Connect
technology, an industry-changing approach to connecting and adapting server,
local area network (LAN) and storage area network (SAN) domains across the
data center.

QLogic, a longtime, trusted technology partner in producing HP BladeSystem
mezzanine cards and switches, worked closely with HP to deliver the Virtual
Connect Fibre Channel module that is now available for HP BladeSystem
c-Class servers. HP's Virtual Connect Ethernet and Fibre Channel modules
dramatically simplify LAN and SAN connections and make IT "change ready." By
reducing cables without adding managed switches and cleanly separating the
management of server enclosures from LAN and SAN management, the modules
allow administrators to quickly and easily add or remove servers without
disrupting business.

"Enterprises tell us about their frustrations with adding, changing or
moving servers. The process involves extensive coordination between storage,
network and server administrators," said Jesse Parker, vice president and
general manager of QLogic switch products group. "HP's Virtual Connect
erases that frustration by making it possible for businesses to connect HP
BladeSystem servers and SANs to the network within minutes, allowing
businesses to pool server resources and focus administrators' time on other
priorities."
