GlobeTel Communications Corp. said Friday its wireless subsidiary has been contracted to install WiMAX communications networks in 30 cities throughout the Russian Federation.

The Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based company said the agreement calls for it to provide broadband, VoIP and DECT technologies with LLC Internfta, a Moscow-based company. GlobeTel said the Russian company will pay GlobeTel $600 million for the networks.

“It is beyond exciting to be able to bring this level of connectivity to Russia,” said GlobeTel CEO Tim Huff in a statement. “Russia will, quickly and at a relatively modest cost, have a wireless infrastructure that will rival any in the industrialized world.”
