Fortress Technologies and Foundry Networks have joined forces to deliver an integrated security solution for converged wireless networks.

Under the partnership, the companies have combined Foundry's Ethernet Switches and IronPoint wireless access points to offer a comprehensive, enterprise-grade network security solution extending from the network core to the edge. Already deployed by some customers, the joint offering was subjected to a wide range of compatibility and interoperability trials.

"This partnership is based on combining tested and market-proven technology in response to enterprise demand for secure wireless networks," Fortress Technologies vice president of business development John Dow said in a statement. "With Fortress' robust security solution and Foundry's innovative and high-performance switches and access points, enterprise customers can immediately benefit from rapid deployment of a feature-rich, fully secure and integrated wireless environment."

As a result of the partnership, both companies' products have earned the Department of Defense Information Technology Security Certification and Accreditation Process (DITSCAP) certification.
