iQ NetSolutions announced last week that its VistaPoint Enterprise presence and call control suite now supports Microsoft's Live Communications Server (LCS). VistaPoint Enterprise provides unified presence and call control among mixed technologies such as TDM, VoIP, and SIP, and across equipment from multiple communication system vendors. VistaPoint Enterprise supports all major PBX platforms (TDM and IP-based) from vendors including Avaya, Cisco, Mitel, Nortel, and Siemens.

LCS is an enterprise-grade instant messaging and presence solution that is integrated with the Microsoft Office System and the Windows Server System. iQ NetSolutions' SIP/SIMPLE interface for LCS retrieves presence and state changes of SIP devices from LCS and passes this back to the VistaPoint Server software. VistaPoint Server then presents the information to presence-based applications. The interface also "pushes" state changes of legacy telephony devices into LCS so that LCS-compliant applications can also use of this presence information.

"We are no longer simply tracking a person's IM status," says Ray Ryan, Executive Vice President and CTO, iQ NetSolutions. "Presence-based applications and services must also monitor (in real-time) the state of every communication device or service that an individual uses. Our strategy is simple, to make presence and call control ubiquitous across the entire enterprise of wireline and wireless communication technologies."
