Server shipments soared 21 percent in the third quarter compared to 2002, according to numbers from research firm Gartner.If on target, Gartner's early data on server sales would be the third consecutive quarter that unit shipments increased by more than 10 percent over the same quarters of last year.
At the top of the Intel-based server sales chart was Hewlett-Packard, which boosted its shipments by 21 percent compared to the previous year. Dell, at number two, increased its sales by 28 percent, while IBM, in the third slot, grew its server sales even more: 37 percent.
