Integrated Research Ltd. has unveiled a new product in its Prognosis Voice over IP (VoIP) and IP telephony management software line designed to test the readiness of an enterprise network prior to a VoIP deployment.

While Prognosis IP Telephony Manager is meant to ease the implementation and ongoing management of a VoIP network, the company's new IP Telephony Assessor can pinpoint problems even before deployment. The application simulates VoIP traffic and monitors simulated call quality in real time. Integrated Research says that the application can identify weaknesses in the network, limitations in existing hardware and can help to ensure Quality of Service (QoS) and optimize network efficiency prior to rolling out a VoIP solution.

"The importance of pre-deployment network assessment can't be stressed enough," Integrated Research product manager Kailem Anderson said in a statement. "Many of our recently acquired clients have specifically come to us looking for a solution to their IP telephony deployment problems. Fortunately, with our Prognosis IP Telephony Manager solution we can provide the appropriate ongoing fault monitoring and troubleshooting support. However, the problems they encountered would not have occurred if pre-deployment assessment with Prognosis IP Telephony Assessor had taken place and the need for on-going management was recognized earlier."

IP Telephony Assessor provides and an in-depth technical evaluation and comprehensive, post-assessment reports providing a detailed summary of the network's weaknesses and its readiness for VoIP. The application also provides reports tailored to the needs of different levels of administrators and managers, from IT managers to C-level executives.
