Microsoft is readying a service pack for its SMB VoIP system that will be downloadable for free this summer.Service Pack 1 for Microsoft Response Point will include digital voice services, enabled by connecting to the public switched telephone network (PSTN) over the Internet instead of via analog lines (known as "SIP trunking"). Other new features include click-to-call, the ability to see which users in an office are on the phone, and local numbers for remote offices.

These additions will help small businesses appear larger than they really are, said Ben Brauer, Microsoft's senior product manager for Response Point. The announcement came today during Microsoft's third annual Small Business Summit.ChannelWeb
