MCI Inc. has announced that it will expand its Internet DSL services to Asia Pacific and the Middle East. Multinational companies with operations in the People's Republic of China, Hong Kong, Thailand, the Philippines, Australia, Singapore and Israel can now utilize high-speed services and broadband to connect to their remote offices.

MCI previously only offered DSL service in Australia, but by expanding its coverage, enterprise customers can now connect to their Asia Pacific and Middle East offices. This solution is targeted at companies that want high-speed access but do not require traditional leased line Internet connectivity.

MCI is offering broadband services locally through its agreements with several regional providers, including Pacific Internet Ltd for Thailand, the Philippines, and Hong Kong, China NetCom for the People's Republic of China and Golden Lines for connectivity in Israel. MCI will offer ASDL service in China available at rates of 512 Kpbs for downstream and 128 Kbps for upstream. SDSL and ASDL service will be offered in Singapore, Hong Kong, Thailand, and the Philippines at varying speeds. In Israel, MCI will provide ADSL service with speeds from 64 Kbps to 1.5 Mbps.

MCI offers DSL service in 14 countries across the world and IP access in 65 countries spanning six continents including North America, Latin America, Asia, Europe, Australia and Africa. MCI also plans to extend its international DSL service into Malaysia and Peru over the next several months as part of its Global Business Partners Program.
