HP And QLogic Enable Any Protocol On Any Port: Page 2 of 2

Flexfabric is a game-changer as vendors extend their support for virtualization. The alternatives such as IO virtualization (IOV) can provide similar benefits to Flexfabric by extending the PCI bus to a cage full of IO cards that can be assigned to various functions,  but often requires the use of technologies like Infiniband as well as hypervisor and VM driver support that many IT managers aren't willing to adopt.

The Flexfabric 10/24 card can support 240 Gbps switching capacity and it splits into 16 10Gbps ports that connect to servers, storage and other devices, as well as offering eight 10Gbps ports that can uplink to the network for an overall 2:1 over-subscription. HP Virtual Connect Flex Fabric modules will be available in third quarter of 2010, with pricing starting at $18,500.
