Fujitsu Unveils Four Primergy Servers

Fujitsu Computer Systems Corp. on Wednesday introduced four Primergy servers that will run on Intel Corp.'s latest Xeon processor, which is capable of running both 32-bit and 64-bit applications.

The new products include two tower servers, the TX200 S2 and TX300 S2; and two rack servers, the RX200 S2 and RX300 S2, officials with the Sunnyvale, Calif.-based, computer maker said. All four servers come with Intel Xeon dual processors featuring Intel Extended Memory 64 Technology, code-named Nocona.

"The new systems allow IT managers to migrate to 64-bit computing at their own pace while preserving their current investments," Richard McCormack, vice president of product and solutions marketing for Fujitsu Computer, said in a statement.

In addition, the computers use a redesigned cooling system that uses bigger fans and air tunnels to improve airflow and dissipate heat.

"We used aviation simulation to design our Primergy S2 servers and redesigned the housing to increase airflow," McCormack said.The new rack and tower servers are available now, with base models starting at $2,219.
