FCC to Make VoIP Wiretapping Easy
Wiretaps have proved effective in preventing and prosecuting offenders. Now it's time to be use these taps in newer communication methods.

The proposed rules should be enacted. VoIP isn't special or sacred--there's no reason Internet-based phone calls should be treated any differently from conventional telco calls. Of course, VoIP wiretaps, like landline wiretaps, should require a court order and due process of law. But you can't oppose VoIP surveillance without opposing landline surveillance as well.
Wiretaps have proved effective in preventing and prosecuting offenders. As more consumers begin using VoIP, so will the criminals. Law enforcement should have the same access to new technology as it does to the old.
