MANHASSET, NY — Enpirion has secured a second round of venture funding totaling $17 million.

The round was led by RRE Ventures and Columbia Capital. New investor Intel Capital and the original Series A participants, Canaan Partners and SAS Investors, both participated on a pro-rata basis. The investment will be used to ramp production, sales and marketing expansion as well as for product development.

Enpirion made its mark earlier this year when it introduced the first single-chip dc-to-dc converter integrating the inductor on-board. The company aims at providing integrated power management products across a range of applications from servers to PDAs and cellphones.

The company also announced that Jim Robinson from RRE Ventures and Hemant Kanakia from Columbia Capital will become directors.

"As we enter into our next phase of growth, Round B will enable us to ramp our initial products into production and will provide a basis for the development and expansion of our product line into several new markets," said Mark Downing, Enpirion's CEO."What attracted us to Enpirion was the unprecedented integration of power management functionality," said Hemant Kanakia from Columbia Capital.
