Cisco To Buy SIP-Solution Firm
The $55 million cash deal brings converged wireless/wireline infrastructure technology to Cisco.

Cisco Systems plans to acquire Dynamicsoft, a Parsippany, N.J.-based maker of Session-Initiation Protocol (SIP)-based solutions for telecommunications service providers.
According to a statement, Cisco will pay $55 million in cash deal for the privately held firm. In exchange, Cisco gets to offer broadband providers technology that support converged wireless/wireline infrastructure in a "subscriber aware" VoIP applications and services environment.
Cisco executives said the move is part of an ongoing strategy to bring technologies to market that generate new revenue for service providers on a converged network infrastructure.
Dynamicsoft, which currently has 104 employees, will become part of Cisco's voice technology group upon completion of the acquisition.
