Catching the ECM Wave

We spoke with FileTek founder and chairman Bill Thompson, CEO Bill Loomis, and newly minted president Phil Pascarelli about their plans for the privately held vendor of data management products. The company in June announced its acquisition of TrustedEdge, which specializes in managing unstructured data, and Pascarelli says FileTek's sister company, Clearview, provides the first ECM suite that offers all the classic components of an ECM architecture -- imaging, workflow, retention, e-mail management, Web content management -- built on a next-generation Microsoft-centric platform that encapsulates SharePoint.

Loomis says the Trusted Edge desktop data management suite provides organizations with compliance and risk mitigation capabilities by enabling them to categorize, log and control information residing on the desktop or in associated corporate file shares, while the new Clearview Iriss Desktop Gadget addresses the need to provide basic ECM functionality and usability across an entire organization.
