3Com on Thursday unveiled its 3102 Business Phone, the first in a family of IP-based telephones the company is aiming at enterprises.

The 3102 is SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) compliant, said 3Com, to allow it to be deployed in multi-vendor environments.

The device's full-duplex speakerphone and unidirectional mike allows for maximum speaker volume and reduces background noise, said 3Com. The new phone also supports IEEE Power over Ethernet (PoE) standards, so it can be placed where traditional outlets are unavailable or already maxed out.

The 3102 Business Phone will ship in late March at a price point of $310.
