SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- NetXen, Inc., a leading provider of breakthrough 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) technology, today announced that Walt Wallach has been appointed as vice president of software engineering and that chip sales veteran Chuck Tybur has been appointed as vice president of worldwide sales.

Mr. Wallach has more than 15 years of experience in senior technical leadership positions in the server and software industries. Prior to joining NetXen, he was vice president of Software and Strategy at Penguin Computing, leaders in Linux clustering and management software. Prior to Penguin, he led the clustered database effort for Industry Standard Servers at Hewlett-Packard. He also managed a server interconnect development group, developing Windows support for Servernet, InfiniBand and TOE/RDMA over Ethernet. Before that, he was vice president of engineering at SUMA Technologies, a system management software company, and was chief technology director at NetFRAME Systems, a manufacturer of highly available clustered servers. Mr. Wallach holds an MSEE degree from Stanford University and a B.S. degree in Engineering from Newark College of Engineering. He holds 48 hardware and software patents.

Mr. Tybur joined NetXen from Intel Corporation, where he served in diverse sales and marketing roles throughout his 17-year career with that company. He most recently served as worldwide director of sales operations for Intels “World Ahead” group, where he led global market development efforts to increase consumer access to affordable PCs in emerging markets.

Prior to that, Mr. Tybur led efforts to increase Intel-based enterprise design wins in the datacenter at Fortune 500 companies in the oil and gas markets; managed global marketing programs for business expansion in government, education and small-to-medium business areas; and led regional sales efforts for Intel Online Services, an application hosting services subsidiary of Intel Corporation (now part of Savvis). He has extensive experience in OEM sales, having led Intel’s server and network chip, board, and system sales to Dell Computer from 1992 to 1998. He graduated from Rutgers College of Engineering in New Jersey with a BSEE degree.

Mr. Tybur will lead NetXen’s worldwide sales efforts, where he will continue to build on the successful introduction of NetXen’s 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapters at major server OEMs, including HP, IBM and Dell. Additionally, he will be building out NetXen’s sales force and global distribution network as demand for 10GbE solutions continues to grow.“Walt and Chuck bring to NetXen significant management experience, extensive knowledge of server and storage networking technology, and a proven track record of growing successful companies,” said Govind Kizhepat, founder and CEO of NetXen. “With their broad industry experience, they will be able to provide the technical and sales leadership necessary to help take NetXen to the next level of our success.”
