Kazeon Reduces Cost of E-Discovery

NEW YORK -- Kazeon, the recognized leader in unstructured information management, today unveiled an e-discovery solution designed to help businesses automate legal discovery related processes and specifically address the amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP) which took effect in December 2006. The amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure (FRCP), which took effect December 1, 2006, present new legal risks for companies with massively growing data stores. Under FRCP Rule 26(b), parties in litigation must produce all electronically stored information that is relevant, not privileged and "reasonably accessible," which includes information that resides online on a corporation's desktops, laptops, servers, and networked storage systems. In reviewing responses to legal discovery requests, a requesting party may identify sources containing electronically stored information that the responding party is neither searching nor producing. Failure by a responding party to properly produce electronically stored information can, in certain circumstances, result in serious sanctions. Consequently, businesses must now build sufficient processes and capabilities into their IT infrastructure in order to satisfy these new legal requirements.
