SANTA CLARA, Calif. -- Woven Systems, Inc., the leading innovator of Ethernet Fabric switching solutions for data centers and high-performance computing clusters, today announced the introduction of the TRX 100, a 48-port Gigabit Ethernet (GE) edge switch, and the addition of fiber optic interfaces to its flagship EFX 1000 Ethernet Fabric Switch. The combination of the EFX 1000 core and TRX 100 edge switches constitutes the industry’s highest capacity Ethernet Fabric switching solution that can sustain low latency, non-blocking throughput at 10 Gbps across 4000 edge ports to satisfy the most demanding scalability needs of today’s data centers and HPC clusters. “Woven's technology addresses many of the previous Ethernet performance limitations in data center applications," said David Passmore, research director at Burton Group. "Customers want to scale the data center without complex Layer 3 routing, wasteful oversubscription, or having to manage a multi-vendor, multi-network infrastructure. With the Woven Ethernet Fabric solution, customers can achieve considerable cost savings by unifying virtual data center resources onto a single and highly familiar network. Woven even accommodates the 'greening' of the data center with its remarkably low power consumption.”

TRX 100 Gigabit Ethernet Edge Switch

The Woven Systems TRX 100 Ethernet Switch is a compact (1U), high-performance, managed Ethernet solution designed for top-of-rack server aggregation and virtualization in data centers. As an edge switch connected to the Woven EFX 1000 Ethernet Fabric Switch, the TRX 100 enables unprecedented scaling and performance for servers connected with GE interfaces, significantly reducing the cost of interconnects throughout the data center.
