iStor, Fujitsu Achieve Success

IRVINE, Calif. -- iStor Networks, Inc. , an innovative technology leader in the development of network storage solutions today announced that their technology partnership with Fujitsu Ltd. resulted in record breaking performance. Using a powerful PRIMEQUEST Server, the companies reached a record throughput of 1046 MB/S and 85786 IOPS via the 10GbE iSCSI connection.

This achievement was made possible by the coordinated efforts of Hitachi High-Technologies Inc. (HHT) who represent Neterion’s line of 10 Gigabit Ethernet adapters in Japan, ASUSTek, provider of i316-A1 disk arrays, iStor, and Fujitsu’s Platform Center department. The four companies have worked hard, in the past few months, to put together a complete iSCSI over 10 GbE solutions, thoroughly tested and validated, ready for end-user customer’s adoption.

This configuration includes, on the target side, the 10GbE version of iStor’s flagship product, the GigaStor ATX™ inside an ASUS chassis and directly connected to a single iSCSI initiator. The GigaStor ATX is an iSCSI storage subsystem based on a highly integrated and powerful system on a chip, a RAID/iSCSI/TCP/IP high performance storage network processor capable of sustaining up to 10 GbE iSCSI traffic. On the initiator side, the setup utilizes a Fujitsu PRIMEQUEST platform which can be equipped with up to 8 Intel Itanium® 2 dual-core processors, and a Neterion Xframe II® V-NIC™ adapter, allowing high-speed 10 Gbps connectivity on Fujitsu’s PRIMEQUEST Itanium® based servers.
