ISS Puts Network Defense Online

This month security solutions provider Internet Security Systems debuts its Virtual Security Operations Center (Virtual-SOC), an Internet-based platform for tracking and controlling security operations across both ISS devices and systems from other security and networking vendors. Additionally, the security firm also rolled out two new services: Security Event and Log Management services designed to help businesses meet the increasing list of Internet-based threats and even tighter regulatory requirements.

Businesses can use Virtual-SOC to monitor both internally-managed devices and networking and security administered by a managed services provider from a single console. Not only will this centralized view help businesses cut expenses and simplify network security oversight; it will also help companies improve the effectiveness of their network defense.

The new Security Event Management Service alerts businesses to the most critical security threats to their network. The service also provides administrators with an assist in fixing security problems by integrating ticketing and workflow tools.

The service integrates data from a number of third-party vendors, as well as ISS devices, including Cisco, Juniper, 3Com, McAfee, and CheckPoint.

ISS' newly announced Log Management Service compiles and archives data from any application or OS that creates logs in a text-based format. This makes it possible for administrators to query logs in real time across multiple operating systems using a common interface. Businesses automatically get a rules-based analysis tailored to their particular corporate requirements and compliance issues.ISS is now offering all of its other managed security services which include Managed Firewall, Managed Protection, Managed Intrusion Detection, and a Vulnerability Management Service through this online delivery platform.
