Finisar Intros Xgig

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- A world leader inhigh-speed communications testing and monitoring technology, FinisarCorporation (NASDAQ: FNSR) today announced availability of the Xgig10GbE Analyzer, the industry's first and only protocol analyzer whichsupports the recent ANSI Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE)initiative. Finisar's Xgig is the industry's workhorse for testingall key storage protocols such as Fibre Channel, SAS/SATA, Ethernetand iSCSI. The FCoE analyzer is based on the company's 10GbE Xgigproduct and Expert software extensively used by most of the leadingstorage system manufacturers.

The implementation of FCoE provides guarantee of packet deliveryusing the PAUSE command and overcomes the deficiencies of standardEthernet products which drop frames in overloaded conditions. TheFCoE initiative promises to enable cost-savings via consolidatedconnectivity and management within the server clusters. As along-standing member of the ANSI T11 committee, Finisar has supportedmembers' proposals for the initiative on the Xgig platform. Thelatest release of Xgig supports the recently ratified frame format.
