NASHUA, N.H. -- EqualLogic, the leading provider of enterprise-class iSCSI storage area network (SAN) solutions, announced the establishment of EqualLogic Japan Company Limited and the appointment of Masato Akiyama as country manager for Japan to address the large iSCSI-SAN opportunity in this country’s vibrant storage market.
With more than 15 years of experience in the storage industry and channel partner management, Akiyama will be responsible for the overall business strategy and daily operation of EqualLogic Japan. He will work closely with the local sales engineering team, partners and distributors to expand EqualLogic’s network of channel partners and strengthen customer support. EqualLogic’s Japanese sales channel currently consists of longstanding partner Net One Systems and two new partners, Kanematsu Electronics and Nittetsu Elex.
“Enterprise-class iSCSI SANs are recognized in the U.S. as a viable alternative to Fibre-Channel-based storage solutions, and now we see tremendous growth potential for iSCSI in Asia, particularly in Japan,” said Don Bulens, president and CEO of EqualLogic. “Under the leadership of Masato and with our commitment to the Japanese market, we are confident that our business will grow while providing Japanese companies a more intelligent, easier to use and less expensive storage solution than any they have experienced.”
EqualLogic’s award-winning and data-center proven PS Series family of storage arrays has been deployed by a number of Japanese customers from large corporations to small and mid-size businesses. “Traditionally, Japanese companies need to forecast and purchase storage equipment for the next two years, which is a high-cost and high-risk investment. With our solutions, companies can enjoy the benefits of a pay-as-you-grow model,” said Akiyama. “The modular design of our PS Series family allows customers to start with only what they need now and expand easily as required, without interrupting their business. Through EqualLogic’s dynamic virtualization technology and intelligent automation, PS Series SANs free system administrators from the hassles of storage management and the limitations of traditional provisioning.”
