ORLANDO, Fla. -- COPAN Systems, the industry leader in cost-effective storage solutions for the protection and management of persistent data, and Luminex Software, a leading developer of mainframe connectivity and virtual tape products, announced today at the SHARE Technology Exchange Expo that they have partnered to enable mainframe users to take advantage of COPAN Systems' Enterprise MAID (Massive Array of IdleDisks) for mainframe data protection solutions.

The partnership enables mainframe enterprises, which typically process massive volumes of "write once, read occasionally" persistent data, to seamlessly offload that data to COPAN Systems Enterprise MAID (Massive Array of Idle Disks) solutions. The integration of the Luminex Channel GatewayT with COPAN Systems Revolution Series provides a more efficient and cost-effective method of managing persistent data while ensuring the data reliability and availability that mainframe users have come to expect.

Customers will realize significant savings in power, cooling and floor space via the Enterprise MAID platform while gaining access to the unprecedented amounts of storage density and scalability required by large enterprise environments.

"With our Channel Gateway, Luminex has provided a path for new technologies into the mainframe environment," Art Tolsma, CEO of Luminex, said. "By supporting COPAN Systems' Enhanced MAID platform with our Channel Gateway, these customers now have access to a uniquely valuable solution that provides the density and economics of tape with the reliability and accessibility of disk."
