BILLERICA, Mass. -- Getronics, a global leader in workspace management and security IT services, and the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium ((ISC)2), the non-profit global leader in educating and certifying information security professionals throughout their careers, today announced a reseller agreement that makes Getronics Security University (GSU) - a robust, virtual curriculum of 38 courses - available through the (ISC)2 eLearning campus. The agreement will make it easier for the more than 43,000 information security professionals that (ISC)2 has certified around the world to meet their rigorous continuing professional education (CPE) requirements.

(ISC)2 issues the highly regarded Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP(R)) and other information security credentials to security professionals that meet the necessary competency requirements. Currently, (ISC)2 credential holders must earn a specified number of CPE credits every three years to maintain their certification. An ongoing challenge information security professionals have faced in meeting this requirement has been access to cost-effective, approved information security courseware that helps them expand their understanding of state-of-the-art security principles and best practices.

"Technology solutions alone cannot protect an organization's critical information assets," said Patricia Myers, CISSP-ISSMP, chairperson, (ISC)2 board of directors. "Certified and well-trained information security professionals give their organizations an advantage, and courseware like Getronics Security University offers plays an important role in ensuring credential holders that they are staying current with and delivering the highest standard of security."

Benefits of GSU include:

-- Comprehensive multi-level curriculum that educates, informs and facilitates career development

-- Presentation of security content that is consistent with the (ISC)2 CBK(R), a taxonomy of information security principles

-- Simplified, automated tracking of CPE credits when (ISC)2 certified members download courses from GSU and (ISC)2

Enterprises can also benefit from leveraging GSU courses as a cost-effective, timely way to train employees. Courses can be customized to include corporate information security policies and practices that ensure compliance with federal mandates and legislation such as Sarbanes-Oxley. Evaluation, tracking and reporting tools allow managers to easily track employee progress and assess mastery of skills.

The contributors who help develop the courses offered on GSU are among the most informed and knowledgeable technology leaders within the field of information security. Many of these professionals are affiliated with leading universities and research institutes.

"As technology continues to advance at a lightning-fast speed, new vulnerabilities are constantly being introduced into the enterprise," said Mike Chapple, information security professional, published author and university instructor. "As a result, the need for ongoing security awareness training is critical, and courses from Getronics Security University and (ISC)2 provide the training needed for security professionals of all skill levels to protect valuable company assets."
