Remember former New York mayor Ed Koch? He used to walk around the city saying, "How am I doing? How am I doing?" It was sort of annoying, actually -- but it was fun when the occasional citizen actually buttonholed him to make a request or complaint.
None of us here at Dark Reading has his bald head or little, squinty eyes, but this week, we're doing our best Ed Koch impression to ask, "How are we doing?" You can't grab us by the lapels, either, but you can take our online survey and let us have it electronically.
Y'see, we've been "in office" for over a year now, and we're looking for ways to make our site better and more useful to you and your colleagues. We're considering some new features and shifts in our coverage, but before we make any big decisions, we'd like to know what you like about Dark Reading -- and what you don't.
Would you like to see more "workshops" that get into the bits and bytes of security technology? Or "primers" that help you explain emerging technologies to others? Would you like to see us dig up more "dirt" on vendors' business plans or ask hackers to comment directly on their exploits? Are you more concerned about stopping external threats from hackers or leaks from inside your organization?
The nice thing about operating a Website is that we can tailor it to fit the needs of our readers. If your suggestions will help us to bring in new audiences, or keep our current readership flipping through our pages, then you can bet we'll take them. In a sense, this is your IT security site. Tell us what you'd like to see, and if other readers agree with you, we'll respond.
Please take a few minutes and answer the online survey. It's not very long, and we're only planning to do it once a year. Please take the opportunity to tell us what you think of the site.
We're pulling our hair back, squinting our eyes, and offering our overcoats. How are we doing?
