TAMPA, Fla. -- Luminex Software, Inc., a leading developer of mainframe connectivity, channel gateway, storage and data distribution products, announced new additions to the Channel Gateway FICON and ESCON family of mainframe connectivity solutions. The Channel Gateway product family delivers on Luminexs Universal Storage Networking™ vision to provide mainframe enterprises with open and unlimited options for storage, management, distribution and protection of mainframe data.

The Channel Gateway 3600 provides mainframe virtual tape-on-disk functionality. Based on mature mainframe virtual tape technology that has been in production by some of the world’s largest companies for many years, the Channel Gateway 3600 now leverages advanced server platforms, 4GB/sec FICON channels and new storage technologies. The Channel Gateway 3600 has been certified with a wide range of industry-leading FC, SAN, NAS and iSCSI storage devices.

The Channel Gateway 3400 streams data directly from native mainframe FICON and ESCON channels to FC-based tape drives and libraries. This direct-to-tape functionality has been enhanced as the only product in the industry to provide seamless mainframe connectivity to virtual tape library (VTL) products, and has been certified by industry-leaders such as Sepaton.

In a separate release, Luminex also announced today the world’s first PCI-X based 4-port ESCON HBA. This modern ESCON technology will be integrated into the Channel Gateway product family in the near future to support mainframe enterprises looking to extend their significant investments in ESCON-based infrastructure. Additional HBA form factors will also be released throughout 2007.
