Digital Identity Leaders to Meet in DC

WASHINGTON, D.C. -- Liberty Alliance, the global identity consortium working to build a more trusted internet for consumers, governments and businesses worldwide, today announced the first public face-to-face meeting of the Liberty Alliance Identity Assurance Special Interest Group (IASIG) taking place on Wednesday, January 30 from 10:00am – 5:00pm in Washington, DC. The public meeting brings together identity leaders representing a wide range of industries to collaborate on defining standardized assessment criteria and accreditation rules for the new Liberty Alliance Identity Assurance Certification Program scheduled for launch during 2Q of this year.

The meeting will be led by Brett McDowell, executive director of Liberty Alliance and Russ Cutler, editor of the Liberty Identity Assurance Framework (IAF). The IAF fills cross-industry requirements for baseline identity assurance policy standards for all public and private sector federations. Based on the Electronic Authentication Partnership Trust Framework derived from the NIST Special Publication 800-63 and now enhanced and updated by Liberty’s Identity Assurance Expert Group (IAEG), the IAF defines four identity assurance levels. Individuals attending the January 30 meeting will have opportunity to participate in defining the requirements federating organizations will need to meet to become certified on each of the four levels of assurance.
