Zmanda partners with Sun to launch advanced backup solutions based on OpenSolaris

SUNNYVALE, Calif. -- Zmanda, the leader in open source backup and recovery software, today announced that both Amanda Enterprise and Zmanda Recovery Manager (ZRM) for MySQL are fully supported and certified on the OpenSolaris 2008.11 platform, which was announced by Sun Microsystems (NASDAQ: JAVA) today, and will be available in OpenSolaris repositories.

The combination of Zmanda’s robust backup solutions with Sun’s innovative OpenSolaris operating system, including the advanced ZFS file system, creates one of the most advanced backup-to-disk offerings available on the market today. Specifically, the snapshot capability of ZFS enables fast and scalable backups of today’s most demanding workloads.
