PALO ALTO, Calif. -- XenSource, Inc., the leader of the open source Xen virtualization project, and a provider of enterprise virtualization solutions, today announced that it has signed an OEM agreement with Symantec to embed Veritas Storage Foundation, Symantec’s industry-standard storage management software into XenEnterpriseTM, and collaborate on delivering enterprise-class HA/DR and backup technology to XenSource customers.

By unifying the industry’s leading storage virtualization software with the industry’s leading open source hypervisor, customers can implement a scalable, high-performance virtualization platform that leverages their current storage investments, processes and environments.

“The combination of Symantec and XenSource can deliver an integrated server and storage virtualization solution that is fast becoming a requirement for many IT organizations,” said John Humphreys, program vice president of IDC's Enterprise Virtualization research. “The challenges of coordinating the migration of virtual servers across hosts in combination with massive storage growth and data movement requirements has been gaining increasing attention in the market. This partnership will enable customers to use the existing storage infrastructure of Symantec, while leveraging the advanced capabilities of XenEnterprise.”
