CHICAGO -- Vizioncore Inc., the market leader in management tools for virtual infrastructure environments, today announced the general availability of vRanger Pro 3.2, the latest version of its recognized industry-standard backup and restore solution for virtualized environments.

vRanger allows administrators to schedule regular backups of either the full image or just the differential, while the virtual machine is still running. Images can be stored either locally in the SAN or sent as compressed files over a WAN to remote locations to support disaster recovery strategies. vRanger also enables restore of individual files efficiently with an explorer tree through which users can easily identify and "grab" needed files.

Building on Vizioncores third generation technology, vRanger 3.2 offers a number of new features, including:

P2V Disaster Recovery: Extends the benefits of virtual DR strategies to physical infrastructures by providing a safe and reliable method for capturing image-level backups of any physical Window server. Backup jobs can be configured in just a few clicks with no disruption to the source machine.

Write-Speed Enhancements: Increases backup speeds and reduces restore times by as much as 50 percent.VSS Driver: Utilizes Microsoft’s Volume Shadow Copy Service to pause application “writers.” This feature enables quiescing of supported databases to provide transactionally-consistent backup images.

Support for Separate Data Stores: Virtual environments have historically supported splitting virtual machines into two VMDK files when restoring virtual machines. Many organizations have had to store these files in different data stores, but vRanger Pro supports the selection of separate data stores.

No Zip Restores: Restores from an uncompressed backup, allowing full integration with Data Domain deduplication solutions that greatly reduce the amount of storage space required for backups.

“An increasing amount of businesses are turning to virtualization as a way to address their disaster recovery needs, since it offers a far more flexible way of protecting and restoring servers,” said David Bieneman, CEO of Vizioncore. “With our vRanger product we offer the best solution to address this challenge, but continue to develop and enhance the product to address our customer’s growing needs. In this latest version we can deliver greatly enhanced backup and restore speeds and offer a far greater range of functionality, which for the first time allows our customers to start extending the benefits of our products to their physical servers via our P2V functionality.”
