We continue our look at the source-side dedupe market with Tandberg Data's AccuGuard Server software, a solution designed specifically for the SMB market place. The Tandberg solution bundles deduplication software with their NAS appliances to provide a turnkey backup solution for that market.

It is important to remember that the Tandberg Data solution is not just for back-up. It can also act as a NAS or iSCSI storage system. This provides more flexibility to the SMB by being able to optimize use system for more than just a single purpose, which can save the SMB money and space. Now, there is some concern if this system is used for primary storage and backup, that all your backups are then in the same place as your primary storage. You can leverage the included replication or use one of their RDX Quikstor removable disk solutions for one-touch, off-site backup to alleviate this concern.
