Reflectent Software has announced EdgeSight for Desktops 4.0, an open platform for application performance visibility and diagnostics.

The end-user application performance management solution features a flexible reporting system integrated with Microsoft Reporting Service. It has new data analysis capabilities, configurable real-time alerts and enhanced performance monitoring and diagnostics.

Customers can subscribe to export and customize rich built-in reports sets and analyze performance remotely in real time. They can fine-tune and customize data collection and notification, improving root-cause analysis and application troubleshooting.

IT managers can remotely trace from agents into IT infrastructure to pinpoint problems from any device on their networks, allowing support staff to quickly diagnose distributed network latency issues. They can also customize alerts based on service level requirements for critical applications, doing away with false alarms.

Sun Chemical, the world's largest producer of printing inks and pigments, uses the solution across more than 6,000 end-user devices and to ensure performance of its SAP implementation."We were challenged with the complexity of supporting a large number of employees and applications distributed at locations throughout the world," Sun CIO Scott Carcillo said through a prepared statement. "EdgeSight for Desktops 4.0 allows us to understand applications performance from an end-user perspective and capture diagnostic data despite the geographic impediment."
