If EMC's customers aren't confused by the myriad of products it has amassed over the past few years, its competitors will try to add to the confusion.
"How do people know what backup products to buy from EMC, and what replication products?" says Hewlett-Packard storage CTO Ash Ashutosh, pointing out that EMC offers NetWorker, Retrospect, and now Avamar backup and a myriad of replication products.
In other words, EMC's string can't support the weight of any more pearls right now.
