MILPITAS, Calif. -- Adaptec, Inc. (NASDAQ:ADPT), a global leader in trusted storage solutions, announced today that Micro Depot, Inc. (MDI), a leader in custom computing and mobile storage solutions, has selected Adaptec Unified Serial (SATA/SAS) RAID controllers to help ensure software and hardware compatibility, improving time-to-market and facilitating rapid customer deployment, as well as optimum I/O performance in their new line of Teras iSCSI storage area network (SAN) Custom and Portable storage servers. Designed specifically to improve the overall cost of acquiring and deploying SAN technology, the MDI Teras family of solutions are utilized primarily for transaction processing, archiving, data migration, backup and disaster recovery by commercial IT, defense and government organizations.

MDI selected the Adaptec Unified Serial RAID controllers to boost the workload application performance and tiered storage capability of its Teras P-Series storage systems. Adaptec Unified Serial controllers have enabled MDI to create a tiered storage solution with either high-capacity Serial ATA (SATA) disk drives or high-performance Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) drives, resulting in a single, cost-effective system that can support both primary and secondary storage. Adaptec RAID controllers also improve system performance, while enhancing fault tolerance to the Teras P-Series making it the ideal storage for bandwidth-intensive applications. The Teras P-Series easily integrates into any existing network and SAN infrastructure, and the Teras Ti800P model provides a portable storage solution that meets the needs of organizations planning for continuity of operations.

MDI systems are built using only high quality, industry-standard components, and because Adaptec has a proven reputation for reliability in the industry, we’re confident in telling our customers that the baseline of our storage arrays are founded upon Adaptec RAID technology,” said Adam Shekarabi, EVP of Sales & Services, at Micro Depot Inc. “Although we’ve worked with several storage controllers, including products from Areca, Intel and LSI, the Adaptec controllers have consistently demonstrated the highest levels of reliability, so logically Adaptec was the best choice for our Teras brand.”
