IBM Tops Server Sales In Q4: Page 2 of 2

Hewitt notes that IBM's introduction of POWER7-based mainframes also boosted the market, and helped the company increase mainframe revenues 68.3 percent in the quarter. Geographically, North America saw the biggest increase in server sales, with revenues up 24.5 percent. Asia Pacific revenues were up 22.4 percent, while sales in Latin America increased 12.3 percent.

The EMEA region (Europe, Middle East and Africa) saw growth of 10.4 percent. Only Japan, where sales were down 4.4 percent, suffered a decline. Gartner says it expects the worldwide server market to continue to grow in 2011, but at lower levels as the replacement cycle cools.
