MELVILLE, N.Y. -- FalconStor Software, Inc. (NASDAQ: FALC), the market leader in disk-based data protection solutions, today announced that it has certified the FalconStor VirtualTape Library (VTL) with HP StorageWorks Enterprise Backup Solutions (EBS), which includes tape libraries, autoloaders and tape drives. In addition to improving the quality of bundled tape storage solutions and enhancing the end-user experience, the certification empowers reseller partners to propose VTL solutions with seamless integration, robust interoperability with HP tape libraries, and committed support from FalconStor.

FalconStor VTL and HP EBS directly addresses the need for uninterrupted business continuity by increasing corporate IT's ability to provision, protect and present the information when it is needed, with expediency and integrity. FalconStor VTL leverages disk-based storage to ensure the scheduled backup can be completed within the allocated window with high performance and reliability. VTL's tight coupling with the physical tape libraries offers businesses significant benefits including:

  • Tape Caching allows the VTL to be deployed as a high-speed buffer between the backup software and tape library with full transparency and minimal/no disruption from the operating perspective.

  • Auto-Archive facilitates the production of physical tape cartridges automatically without human intervention.

  • Secure Tape allows the administrator to export physical tapes with strong encryption to protect against theft or loss in transit.

FalconStor also announced it will join the HP Tape Automation Compatibility (TAC) Partner Program to deliver the highest level of compatibility, interoperability and sustainability between FalconStor VTL and HP tape automation products to customers and partners around the world.

"We are seeing significantly increased interest from our customers to tighten the integration between VTL and physical tape libraries in the data center to minimize the support and operating cost," said Bernie Wu, vice president, business development at FalconStor. "FalconStor VTL with HP EBS will be able to drive down the costs of ownership and increase IT's operating efficiency."FalconStor Software Inc.
