announced the general availability of winBoot/i v2.0, its next-generation iSCSI boot solution for Microsoft Windows Server

2003 R2 and the forthcoming Windows Server code name Longhorn”. winBoot/i provides a centrally managed SAN Boot

solution using standard Ethernet network adapters that allows customers to accelerate server deployment and

repurposing, reduce lifecycle operating costs, reduce power and cooling requirements, improve system resiliency andavailability and implement more robust disaster recovery solutions. New functionality in winBoot/i v2.0 includes:

→ Multiple iSCSI targets (10) assignable to a winBoot/i client:

o Available as user selectable boot menu, with automatic boot to default

o Available as failover should first or subsequent iSCSI targets not be accessible

→ Multi-path to different targets during the initial boot strap and Windows boot
→ Bundled winMigr8™ migration utility for moving boot images from physical to a virtual machine or physical

server and back

→ New client discovery

→ Auto-querying of up to three sources for boot parameters (client configurations) during the boot sequence

“The ability to boot Microsoft Windows Server from iSCSI storage using standard NICs is driving the adoption of iSCSI

storage in Windows environments,” said Bala Kasiviswanathan, director of branch and storage solutions at Microsoft. “Welook forward to working with emBoot under the iSCSI Software-Enabled Boot Initiative as they continue to deliver
