Dell on Tuesday announced that Microsoft Operation Manager 2005 Workgroup Edition is now available for use with its PowerEdge Servers, bringing small- and midsize businesses systems-management and monitoring capabilities for as little as $50 per server.

Available directly from Dell, MOM for Dell PowerEdge brings simplified, consolidated monitoring capabilities to customers that have been deterred by the price or complexity of other systems-management solutions, said Linda York, VP of global alliances in Dell's Product Group, in a statement.

"Dell continues to innovate with our partners to deliver customers more choices and greater flexibility for managing IT environments of all sizes," York said.

MOM 2005 Workgroup Edition is ideal for small and midsize businesses with 10 or fewer Windows servers, she said. The $50 per server price is based on customers managing 10 servers. The software, with an integrated Dell management pack, is available for $499.

The software and management pack provide a single console for monitoring operating systems, hardware, and other Microsoft applications, including Exchange, Internet Information Services, and SQL Server, York said.
