CA, Sun Add Support for Solaris 10 OS

Computer Associates International and Sun Microsystems will provide additional support for the Solaris 10 Operating System through an expanded partnership.

Computer Associates International and Sun Microsystems will provide additional support for the Solaris 10 Operating System through an expanded partnership announced Wednesday.

The companies said CA would leverage Unicenter and BrightStor solutions to the operating system for x64 platforms. They said the arrangement would lower costs, increase business value from data center investments and optimize systems availability and performance.

CA's Unicenter NSM will increase support, such as load balancing and diagnostics through Sun's Solaris Container's capabilities. AutoSys Job Management will include support for scheduling applications running on the Solaris 10 OS for x86 platforms. Database Management Solutions - for Oracle and DB2, UDB distributed databases running on the Solaris 10 OS - will provide performance management and administration capabilities. Unicenter Database Management Solutions for Distributed RDBMS are being certified on the operating system. Finally, CA is extending support in BrightStor ARCserve Backup, Storage Resources Manager and SAN Manager for Sun's StorEdge 6130.
