CHICAGO -- Demonstrating continued leadership in next-generation communications infrastructure software, BEA Systems, Inc. (Nasdaq: BEAS - News), today announced the general availability of BEA WebLogic Network Gatekeeper(TM) 2.2.
BEA WebLogic Network Gatekeeper is the telecommunications industry's only carrier-grade, standards-based platform designed to integrate policy enforcement, Telecom Web Services, and third party partner management. BEA WebLogic Network Gatekeeper 2.2 is designed to deliver new Telecom Web Services and native network application interfaces that can help network operators increase revenue from new, third-party services. It is also designed to provide enhanced network access control capabilities for better network protection.
With the addition of new Telecom Web Services, native network protocol interfaces, as well as enhanced charging and billing capabilities, BEA WebLogic Network Gatekeeper 2.2 is designed to extend BEA's leadership role in the Service Delivery Platform (SDP) and fast-growing network protection and access control market commonly referred to as the Service Access Gateway. With this product, BEA can help network operators safely expose their network assets to developers through an SOA-based architecture, using Telecom Web Services that can implement a range of capabilities such as call routing, text messaging, and billing. This network access, in turn, can help operators increase revenue from both new messaging and location-based services, as well as services from existing legacy networks.
"BEA WebLogic Network Gatekeeper has experienced strong market traction to date, but as our customers face increased market consolidation and tough revenue pressures, they are looking for new and innovative technologies that can help them maintain their competitive edge," said Mike McHugh, vice president and general manager, BEA WebLogic Communications Platform, BEA Systems. "BEA WebLogic Network Gatekeeper 2.2 is designed to address one of their most important challenges right now -- quickly developing, deploying and managing next-generation services in a Services-Oriented Architecture (SOA)."
