SYDNEY -- AXS-One Inc. [AMEX:AXO], a leading provider of high performance records compliance management solutions, has been awarded a new contract from Lafarge Plasterboard for its compliance and operational archiving software solutions.

Lafarge Plasterboard manufactures and distributes plasterboard products through its national distribution network of more than 40 Lafarge PlastaMasta Centres. The Lafarge group of companies has sales of more than 14 billion Euros (approximately $10.8 billion), is listed on the Paris and New York Stock Exchanges and employs 77,000 people in 75 countries.

Modules of the AXS-One Compliance Platform were purchased with solutions for file system archiving and e-mail archiving for Lotus Notes and Microsoft Exchange to address both operational and compliance requirements; and records management. The contract was completed in the fourth quarter of 2006.

David Thompson, managing director of AXS-One in Asia Pacific, said Lafarge Plasterboard acknowledged the key benefits of being able to efficiently manage its unstructured documents within a single, scalable archiving repository, which will provide the company with regulatory compliance and record integrity, as well as delivering significant cost and productivity savings.

"Most organizations use file systems as their archives, which creates risk because they aren't managed and add to a massive storage overhead,” said Thompson. “The AXS-One Compliance Platform allows unlimited volumes of unstructured data generated from different applications, such as e-mails, word processing, spreadsheets, images, videos and PDFs to be captured and securely stored in a central repository before anyone has the ability to delete or modify them in any way. Using a web-based portal, users can quickly search and retrieve these records."Following a Sarbanes-Oxley audit at Lafarge Plasterboard, Steve James, the company's IS manager, said it was recommended to install an automation tool for archiving e-mails and other data.

"While compliance was an important reason for implementing an AXS-One solution, we could also see considerable operational cost savings in a retention system that provides users with a self-serve arrangement to access their archived e-mails and documents," said James.
