AMHERST, N.Y. -- ATTO Technology, Inc., a global leader of storage connectivity and infrastructure solutions for data-intensive computing environments, announced today that its Celerity 4-Gigabit Fibre Channel host adapters have been qualified for use with IBM SAN Volume Controller (SVC) as a high-capacity Enterprise-class storage virtualization solution for the Mac market. This solution efficiently manages storage resources by providing improved resource utilization and business application availability.

ATTO, a pioneering developer of storage solutions for the Apple market, has created a specialized Fibre Channel driver to allow path failover and load-balancing capabilities between the ATTO Celerity FC-41ES, FC-42ES, and FC-44ES PCIe host adapters and the virtual LUNs created by the IBM SVC. In addition to continuous data protection, the solution is designed to enhance workflow, improve storage utilization and simplify management of many virtual resources.

ATTO’s Fibre Channel host adapters and IBM’s SVC combine to offer the flexibility to create multiple virtual resources within a single physical device and the reliability of automatic path failover and load balancing across all inputs.

“The combined capabilities of ATTO’s Celerity host adapters and IBM’s SAN Volume Controller meets customer’s demands for a high-capacity and easy-to-manage, tiered virtualization solution,” states Timothy Klein, president and CEO of ATTO Technology. “Qualification of our Celerity host adapters with the IBM SVC reinforces ATTO’s role in delivering leading storage infrastructure solutions for Apple environments.”
