BROOMFIELD, Colo. -- Plasmon (LSE:PLM), the trusted source in archiving systems, and ARKIVIO Inc., providing leading Information Lifecycle Management (ILM) solutions for the enterprise, today announced an OEM agreement. This partnership will enable Plasmon and ARKIVIO to work together to develop solutions based on Plasmons UDO™ Archive Appliance and the ARKIVIO® auto-stor software solution for file systems.

“Expanding our partnership with ARKIVIO makes sense not only from a technology standpoint but also from a business perspective,” said Mike Koclanes, Chief Strategy Officer, Plasmon. “Plasmon and ARKIVIO both understand that the growth of unstructured data is becoming impossible to manage and that new regulations are increasing complexity for businesses. We are leveraging our joint expertise to help businesses fully exploit and protect their long-term information assets.”

Plasmon and ARKIVIO have expanded their relationship to provide businesses with an easier way to discover static files and fixed content on a NAS filer. This new solution will allow companies to migrate fixed content data to a secure, lower cost UDO archive storage tier, allow seamless file access to archived fixed content, all while eliminating fixed content data from the backup process. Additionally, this solution will be a long-term, compliant WORM archive that can also provide businesses with a second removable copy for a disaster recovery strategy.

“Recent industry research indicates that the volume of unstructured data will grow exponentially over the next few years. Keeping all this data online and making it not only accessible but searchable and readily available will be a burden for storage managers and one that will test the limits of NAS deployments,” said Buzz Walker, vice-president Marketing and Business Development, ARKIVIO. “Our partnership with Plasmon directly addresses this pain point and we are excited about the synergies between our businesses that will translate into solutions for customers.”
