In its press release AMD did not say if or how the three variants of the Opteron dual-core differed from each other physically, or what clock frequency the chips were capable of operating at.

AMD (Sunnyvale, Calif.) has already told IBM, Sun Microsystems and Hewlett-Packard about the chips and said that IBM plans to use the processors in its servers and workstations. Sun is set to include the dual-core processors in its Sun Fire x64 servers and workstations, AMD said, while HP plans to include the AMD chips in its ProLiant servers, workstations, and blades.
