OBERURSEL, Germany -- Utimaco The Data Security Company, today announced a partnership with Safend, a leading provider of endpoint Data Leakage Prevention solutions that will add data leakage protection (DLP) to Utimaco’s growing portfolio of data security solutions. The new product, SafeGuard PortProtector, offers enterprises additional protection against data leakage by securing the endpoint adding to the broad scope of SafeGuard data security solutions. Through an OEM and joint technological development agreement with Safend, Utimaco launches the first step of its data leakage prevention strategy: SafeGuard PortProtector and SafeGuard PortAuditor.

“Protecting company data just with encryption on the endpoints is certainly not sufficient. SafeGuard Enterprise already offers the broadest data protection suite for enterprises. Today, we add with SafeGuard PortProtector and Auditor the most efficient data leakage product to our security suite,” explained Malte Pollmann, Executive Vice President Products, Utimaco. “By partnering with Safend we are able to offer enterprises new capabilities based on the solid foundation of Utimaco security technology.”

Utimaco customers can look forward to continued development of products focused on data leakage protection, including integration of DLP capabilities with the company’s flagship SafeGuard Enterprise suite. The company is planning further expansion into data leakage protection with a new content monitoring and filtering product.

According to analyst firm IDC, more than 70 percent of confidential data resides at the endpoint. Additionally, while increased mobility and connectivity can improve productivity, it often leaves endpoints wide open to data leakage, enterprise penetration and the introduction of malware.

SafeGuard PortProtector provides customers with the tools to protect against data leakage on all types of external storage devices and communication interfaces like Bluetooth or WiFi. It also supports the enforcement of security policies as well as creating device usage and data tracking reports easily.Utimaco Safeware AG
