EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. -- Xiotech Corporationtoday announced a new line of storage systems featuring the company'spatented Intelligent Storage Element (ISE) technology acquired from SeagateTechnology last November. By using ISEs as the fundamental element ofstorage instead of disk drives, the Emprise(TM) storage systems are able tovirtually eliminate the need for service, scale from one terabyte to onepetabyte and dramatically boost performance, validated by SPC tests. Thesystems include a five year hardware warranty and there is no price premiumfor the new technology.

"It's time for a new foundation for storage," said Xiotech ChiefTechnology Officer Steve Sicola, who led a million-man-hour effort to bringthe ISE technology to market. "Exponential growth in data storage capacitycontinues, but reliability, performance and manageability haven't keptpace. We have fundamentally rethought storage from the ground up, and withthe ISE have developed break-through technology, which is tested, provenand ready to go."
