CUPERTINO, Calif. -- Symantec Corp. (Nasdaq: SYMC) today announced Symantec Endpoint Encryption, designed to provide advanced encryption for desktops, laptops and removable storage devices. Symantec Endpoint Encryption is a scalable, enterprise-wide security offering that prevents unauthorized access to endpoints with strong encryption and access control technologies.

Designed to help customers protect sensitive information and mitigate the increasing risks of data loss, Symantec Endpoint Encryption offers scalable, centralized management for easy deployment and administration. Customers may also leverage existing tools through synchronization with Microsoft Active Directory for group policy management. In addition, Symantec Endpoint Encryption meets government directives and regulations as the audit reporting capabilities help customers demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements that mandate the use of encryption technologies to better protect data.

According to the Symantec Internet Security Threat Report, theft or loss of computer or other data-storage medium made up 46 percent of all data breaches that could lead to identity theft during the period of Jan. 1 to June 30, 2007.As the amount of information generated by businesses continues to increase and is stored on a growing number of endpoint devices that may be compromised, lost or stolen, encryption should be applied, based on policy, to help protect sensitive information and interactions as part of a larger information protection strategy,” said Brian Foster, vice president, product management, Symantec Corp. “Symantec’s encryption solutions will continue to provide customers a balance of simplicity and sophistication to ease implementation while meeting business needs.”
