ORLANDO, Fla. -- STEC, Inc. (Nasdaq:STEC), today announced the availability of the first solid state drive (SSD) to provide native Fibre Channel (FC) 4Gb support -- the Zeus-IOPS 4Gb Fibre Channel SSD. The first-of-its-kind SSD allows enterprise storage and enterprise server OEMs to adopt SSDs for a wider range of applications.

"This important product line expansion enables broader adoption of SSD technology in the datacenter," said Patrick Wilkison, vice president of marketing and business development at STEC. "The major OEMs in the enterprise storage and enterprise computing sectors need 4Gb FC with full compatibility and command set used by mechanical disc drives making it ever easier to incorporate SSD into existing systems requiring 4Gb FC drives."
