Smart Intros SATA SSDs

FREMONT, Calif. -- SMART Modular
Technologies (WWH), Inc. (SMART) (NASDAQ: SMOD), a leading
independent manufacturer of memory modules, embedded computing
subsystems, and TFT-LCD display products, today announced its new
XceedLite product line of serial ATA (SATA) solid state drives (SSD)
ideal for networking, telecommunications, and data communications
applications as well as tablet PCs.

SMART's XceedLite SATA SSD product line features the industry's
best-in-class low-power consumption (0.55W read/0.65W write)
alternative for rugged, low-cost, data storage applications. The
cost-competitive XceedLite SATA SSD solution is well suited for hard
disk drive (HDD) replacement in systems that require high-reliability
storage in a low-profile (H-5mm x W-68.9mm x L-100.25mm) package.
Offering sustained read performance up to 40MB/sec and sustained
write performance of up to 25MB/sec, the XceedLite SATA SSD's access
time is typically 200ms with power requirements of only 150mA at
+5VDC.

Available in densities up to 32GB, the reliable XceedLite SATA SSDs
are designed for rugged boot drives in a wide range of communications
applications including mobile and embedded computing, medical,
automotive, and industrial applications. SMART's XceedLite SATA SSDs
feature enhanced reliability as a result of advanced on-board error
detection as well as correction and comprehensive wear leveling
algorithms that provide consistent operation throughout the product
life cycle.

"SMART has built its foundation by providing proven technology," said
Alan Gulachenski, Senior Director of New Product Development. "The
XceedLite product line is the next logical step in our SATA SSD
roadmap, providing a low-cost, low-power alternative for OEMs. By
leveraging our extensive supplier relationships and strategic
partnerships around the globe, SMART is able to offer these rugged
new drives at a cost that is competitive with traditional HDD-based
designs."
