Seven10 Embraces XAM

LAWRENCE, Mass. -- Seven Ten Storage Software, Inc., the developer of StorFirst EAS, Windows based software, the leading virtual access layer for centralized management of data and storage in the enterprise, announced that it will include functionality of its file system archiving software to support the XAM (eXtensible Access Method) application programmers interface.

The XAM Interface specification defines a standard access method (API) between "Consumers" (application and management software) and "Providers" (storage systems) to manage fixed content reference information storage services.

Seven10 is making a strategic investment to support the XAM API to ensure an easy adoption of the protocol throughout the enterprise. A standard, centrally managed Windows file system interface will allow application providers, and the end-user customer to move forward with their archive implementations with confidence that a standard unified layer is at their disposal.

“We are taking an aggressive approach with our support of XAM because we believe that a standard protocol is sorely needed to eliminate the disruption caused by proprietary APIs” said Bobby Moulton, President of Seven Ten Storage Software, Inc., “More importantly an open approach to support such a protocol will be mandated by a customer base that is tired of spending development cycles and resources in an effort to support ever changing APIs.”
